Anyway I caught a few movies last few weeks. Recommend to you all: Eagle Eye, My Magic, Lian Kong, Festen, Ringu
Eagle Eye is as the review says, a mixture of Matrix and action-packed Hollywood. Shia LaBeouf is getting better and better. From Transformers to Disturbia to Indiana Jones to Eagle eye, I'm seeing more and more of him, and liking him more and more. I just searched him online and apparently he acted as the cute cabbie in Constantine, and even in X-files. But I can't recall seeing him in X-files anyway. I like the ending of Eagle eye. Can watch.
My Magic is my magic man. A lot of ouch ouch ouch going on, *not gonna give any spoiler here* which you won't get to see in mainstream Hollywood. But apparently the box office is quite sucky! Only S$7000 I heard. That's only about 1000 people watched. Though it's a Tamil film, it's very touching and kinda morbid. Typical Eric Khoo I must say. At least it's better than Mee Pok Man...Omg that show...
Lian Kong eh...it's a Japanese romance story. very slow-paced, very teenage romance love story. The story is that kind that will get a lot of people crying. My friend was crying away, den she asked me why I never cry. Well I can guess the plot ma! But in the end, I guessed it touched me on a more personal level. *thumb up*
My module "popular cinema" also made me watch alot of shows, though nonmainstream Hollywood films. I got to watch Iran movies, which are surprisingly GOOD! And I recommend Festen, a Scandinavian Dogme 95 film. The title means celebration. But I guess the title meant to be ironic, cos the celebration well din go very well. But it's damn cool. Just some cinematic knowledge for you, Dogme 95 films are a kind of film that is meant to have ZERO special effects, lighting, guns and those TYPICAL HOLLYWOOD CRAP. The theme is damn cool. it's a MUST WATCH!
Last week, we watched Ringu, the one that Sadako crawled out of the well. I never watch it before, so it was WAULAU...And I went into the screening without knowing the show. So damn scary.. KAO. I would have left if I know what's showing. But nice...nice to watch so many nice movies at one shot. But sigh...can this get me a job? Sigh....
Here's a short clip of Festen.

What do we live for?
Has been thinking about this quite often these few days...especially after my first interview. It set me thinking whether I'm cut out for this line. Low pay, low recognition, low employment even. What made me want to go this line in the first place? Maybe it's a simple wish to watch movies and watch even more? I guess so. But can that wish become a job? a passion? I dunno.
Now's the period when work is piling up. So many assignmts, so many projects. This is the first sem I feel unmotivated to do any of the work. I dunno what i'm doing this sem, quite frankly. Whatever I do, my modules grades seem to cui. Sigh.
Why did I even come to NTU?
The first year I came to uni I was still enthu. As the years passed by, I guess I lost sight of why I was here for. And what I'm doing here. I could have gone to science. I could have gotten a decent degree in NUS. Why here? To make those movies that touch people. To make the simple videos that bring a smile to people.
I remembered Yihui cried because of the 12th comm video I did. I remember Jovin say it was one of the best ODAC videos he saw. That's what I'm aiming for I guess.
Not the drama drama, special effects kind. but the kind that has a story to it. the kind that people watch and feel something from it.
Perhaps ba. Perhaps not. I guess this is another emo day le...=X
Its just me and you <3 .

CNBC ASIA
Last week me, Waisan, Kairu & Cher went to CNBC ASIA!! It's at International Plaza at Tiong Bahru. If you ask me, it's like any other business levels. But the cool thing is there's 2 studios in this small 1-level production unit. (Another level consists of the admin departments)
The production department is very COOL! We were shown around by the head of the digital team. And CNBC is automated like what! There's no cameraman cos it's all controlled by the joystick in the control room. There's only 2 hosts, and 3 or 4 guys in the control room. Damn cool lol...in school we need 15 people to film half an hour of spectrum.
And CNBC Asia does a live telecast from three different countries: SG, New York and London. Live telecast. And with such a small crew. really an eye-opener lol.
Anyway falling sick today. Whole body has been aching. Nose runs at times. Sore throat in the morning beyond words. Sobs...Will continue if I've the energy...
